ALASKA BROWN BEAR BOAT HUNT
$35,000 10 HUNTING DAYS

Here is a highly successful southeast Alaska outfitter with over 30 years of experience that is not high profile like most of his competitors. He is not into doing sports shows or taking TV personalities and he does not shoot sows or small boars.

2025 first spring hunt he had 2 hunters, and they could only hunt 7 days due to their schedule, one tagged out the first day on well furred 8 1/2 foot boar. Second hunter couldn’t find a really good boar, so he went home empty even though he had 3 days left to hunt. Sure enough next day the outfitter saw a beautiful boar well over 9 foot. Second hunt he had a couple old buddies in their 70’s and somewhat handicapped. One tagged a really good bear just over 8 foot and the second hunter crippled and lost a good-sized bear.

2025 fall he only had one HCU hunter and they saw plenty of bears, but only females with cubs and small boars. There was an abundance of salmon that spread the bears out and made it more difficult. He was probably only the second fall hunter in the past 15 years not to shoot a bear.

2024 spring all 3 rifle brown bear hunters tagged out on bears 8 1/2 to over 9 foot, including the largest skull 25 3/4 measured by Fish and Game on Admiralty this spring. He also had one bowhunter miss at 20 yards and had multiple opportunities.

2024 fall was really good and both hunters were done by day 6 on really nice furred 9 foot boars. There were less fish than normal and less streams to hunt but overall was good.

10 day 1×1 brown bear boat hunt is $35,000 spring or fall. He plans on taking two hunters April 29 to May 9 and two hunters May 10 to 20. Fall hunts he normally takes two hunters September 15 to 26.

Accommodations are a 50 foot hunting vessel pulling along two 18 foot skiffs with 40hp motors to access the shoreline. He normally conducts hunts off the coast of Admiralty and across Chatham Strait off the mainland coast. Spring charter flights out of Juneau to or from the boat run about $350 per hunter. Fall hunts typically do not require a charter flight. Next available openings are in 2027. HCU’s Cliff Graham has been on this hunt. Hunt BR907.

#1 ALASKA GRIZZLY HUNT
$25,500 7 DAYS 1X1
2025 – 15 HUNTERS 12 GRIZZLIES
2024 – 37 HUNTERS 35 GRIZZLIES

This longtime Alaska outfitter/bush pilot acquired the first outfitting/guiding non-residents permit in the Noatak National Preserve for arctic grizzly in 2019, a large area located northeast out of Kotzebue. He will continue to run his high success grizzly hunt in country located adjacent to the Preserve, but this just gives him a much larger area.

2025 season started with extreme amounts of rainfall causing major flooding in all the rivers and several days were lost due to the weather. 15 hunters tagged 12 grizzlies and everyone had opportunities. Best bear had a 27 3/16 skull.

2024 turned out to be his best year yet. His 37 hunters tagged 35 bears, 1 sow, with an unbelievable number of 20 bears that would qualify for Boone and Crockett! 4 bears had skulls over 26 inches with the best going 26 10/16. Lots of bears squared 8 foot and the average was probably 7 1/2.

7 day grizzly hunts guided 1×1 will be $25,500 running from late August into early September. 2027 price will be $26,500. Grizzly tags are sold over the counter.

Hunters fly from Anchorage to Kotzebue for about $500 roundtrip, where they are met by the outfitter and flown to camp. Hunt GR247.
