This northeastern Kansas whitetail hunt takes place in one of the top producing Boone and Crockett counties and has produced some exceptional bucks. The outfitter has over 25,000 private acres including 11 miles of river bottom and maintains an extensive feeding program that has paid off big dividends.
Prior to 2022 hunters were able to draw their whitetail tag with a 90% success rate, but due to the increased number of hunter applications the draw odds have lowered to about 50% or as low as 30% for a group if you do not have any preference points so hunters should purchase a preference point before the mid-April deadline.
2025 September muzzleloader went 2 for 5, nothing huge. Large acorn mast crops and this makes the September hunt tougher. November archery finished 11 for 25 with the top bucks grossing 183, 181 and 177, rest in the high 140’s to 160 inches, 3 hit and lost. December first rifle season went 6 for 7, with the best buck grossing 172 and an overall average at 150 inches.
2024 September muzzleloader finished with 5 bucks for 8 hunters, 160 tops with 2 in the 150’s, 145 and a small buck. The 3 unsuccessful hunters were repeats looking for something special. November archery he had 21 bowhunters tag 4 bucks and crippled and lost 5 plus a couple misses. Two in the 160’s, 150 and a mid 140’s. December rifle season 20 hunters killed 9 bucks scoring from 150 to 165 and a small buck, 3 bucks were missed.
5 day Kansas muzzleloader hunt is $6,000, 5 day archery is $6,000 and 5 day rifle hunts are $6,500. Hunt includes 2×1 guide service, lodge accommodations and meals. MONTANA WHITETAILS
FIRST CLASS OPERATION

This outfitter has about 370,000 private acres located in the Miles City area of southeastern Montana. They primarily hunt creek bottoms for whitetails and target mature bucks in the 5 1/2 year or older age bracket. They do not want to shoot young deer even if they score well.
2025 season finished with 7 hunters killing 7 bucks averaging near 150 inches and best grossed scored 164.
5 day hunts guided 2×1 and running from late October to Thanksgiving are $5,750 2×1 or $6,750 1×1. If you draw a pronghorn tag it can be combined with whitetail on the earlier hunts for an additional $1,500. Super nice lodge accommodations, great meals, and just a quality experience.
Draw deadline is April 1 and PREFERENCE POINTS CAN BE ACQUIRED JULY 1 TO SEPTEMBER 30. Normally it takes 1 preference point plus you need to purchase an additional point with your application to draw a deer tag. It typically takes 2 or 3 points minimum for pronghorn. Due to repeat bookings, openings are very limited. Hunters fly into Billings and rent a car for the 1 hour drive or airport pickup can be arranged at $400 roundtrip. IOWA WHITETAILS
BOW $4525/GUN $5225
This outfitter’s main operation is in Missouri but he has a few farms across the border in southwestern Iowa, zones 4 and 5 totaling around 4,000 acres. He has a 140 inch minimum that is enforced with a $1,500 fine.
2025 his 6 archers tagged 4 bucks, 171+, 158, 143 and a below minimum buck 127. They also crippled and lost a 170 type buck.
Shotgun/muzzleloader first season went 1 for 4 taking about a 7 year old 168 inch buck. The hunters left a day early due to high winds.
2024 he had 9 bowhunters tag 2 bucks, hit and lost a buck and 5 of the hunters had opportunities on shooter bucks. The 2 bucks taken grossed 177 4/8 and a 158 3/8 inch buck.
One hunter was holding out for a particular giant buck.
2024 gun season 2 hunters, no kills. Saw 4 bucks in the 145 to 160 class and a broken buck that should have gone 180 inches.
5 day bow hunts are $4,325 and gun is $5,225 plus 5 percent tax starting with archery in early November. First gun hunt starts the first Saturday in December, second gun starts the second Saturday and late muzzleloader is December 26 to January 10. Hunters stay just across the border in his Missouri lodge.
Draw deadline is June 1 and it normally takes 5 or 6 preference points to draw the archery tag in Zone 4 and 4 or 5 to draw Zone 5. Gun normally takes 2 points to draw in either Zones 4 or 5. SASKATCHEWAN PREMIER
WHITETAILS $7792
This area has a combined 4 outfitter units totaling over 500 square miles hunted only by this one outfitter. He is allocated over 120 whitetail tags, but normally only takes about 45 deer hunters per year. He has two superb main lodges along with two comfortable outpost camps. Baiting is allowed and they normally use heated Double Bull blinds, fiberglass elevated box blinds and some treestands on bait sites. Stands are accessed by side by side UTV’s often off old logging roads. This outfit also runs archery and early muzzleloader hunts.
Overall, the average success rate runs over 80 percent on bucks in the high 140’s to 160, with several true Canadian monster whitetails taken yearly.
6 day hunts are $7,792 and INCLUDES $550 deer tag and $242 in tax, arrive on Sunday and depart on Saturday. Hunters fly into Saskatoon and rent a car for the 3 1/2 hour drive or from Edmonton with a 5 1/2 hour drive. Rifle hunts typically run from early November to and including the first week of December. NEBRASKA WHITETAILS

This Nebraska hunt produces a few bucks every year over that magical 150 inches and averages right around that 140 mark. The outfitter has an extensive protein feed program on his 100,000 private acres with 8 miles of Platte River bottom.
The outfitter hunts out of 2 camps. The Island Camp has 7 miles of riverbottom with an explosive population of good whitetails. It has a remodeled ranch house and new bunkhouse for accommodations.
West Camp has 5 miles of riverbottom on the Platte River for whitetails.
He added a new camp located only about 15 minutes from the Island Camp. This place has 3 miles of Platte riverbottom and both sides of the river on 2 miles.
2025 archery finished 4 for 9, nothing huge.
Rifle season at the Island Camp was 11 for 15, best 162 with an overall average in 140’s.
Mule deer were exceptional, going 12 for 12 and taking a 201 and 4 more in the 170’s. He plans on only taking 8 hunters in 2026 to try and focus strictly on age and quality.
2024 archery was 5 for 12, top buck went 164 and rest were in the 130 to 140 class.
Rifle season at the Island Camp over 2 hunts finished 13 bucks for 20 hunters. West Camp over 2 hunts finished 11 for 15 guys. Top 2 bucks grossed 177 and 175 with an overall average in the mid 140’s.
Mule deer finished 8 for 8 with the best buck scoring 189 down to mid 140’s, with an overall average of 160 plus.
5 day bowhunts are $5,000 and run October 24 to 28 and November 1 to 5.
4 day whitetail rifle hunts in mid to late November are $5,750. Mule deer hunts are $9,500 and you will need at least one point to draw a tag.
Nice ranch house accommodations, meals and guiding are included. Whitetail licenses are on a limited quota but over the counter. Here is an inexpensive Saskatchewan whitetail hunt where the outfitter has a 300,000 acre area that borders farmland and bush. On an average most bucks taken gross in the 140’s.

SOUTHEAST WYOMING
This ranch located in southeastern Wyoming is known for the elk hunting and has an extensive amount of agriculture along the river bordering pinon juniper cover in the rolling hills. The property has had little to zero whitetail pressure in past years resulting in mature bucks with a high age structure and deer numbers have greatly increased. This deer tag can be drawn with 0 points and there are typically left-over tags.
5 hunting days is only $4,500 guided 2×1 with cabin accommodations and home cooked meals. The ranch is a beautiful setting that is also home to a good number of elk.

$3000 TEXAS WHITETAIL HUNT

GREAT ACCOMMODATIONS
This 1,200 acre private ranch under high fence is located in the Texas panhandle near the town of Clarendon. Arrive on a Thursday; hunt Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then depart on Monday. Three hunting days are priced very economically at $3,000 and that includes a buck of 8 or 9 points and gross scoring less than 150 Boone and Crockett inches, very nice accommodations, prepared meals and 1 on 1 guide service. Your guide will make the call on size and if he underestimates there is no additional charge to the hunter. Deer grossing from 150 up to 169 Boone and Crockett points have a trophy fee of $3,000. Top trophy bucks scoring over 170 have a $5,000 trophy fee. This ranch has limited hunting and is very brushy whereas some mature bucks are not seen all year except for during the rut. Management hunts take place from September to early December. Trophy hunts for bucks exceeding 150 inches are conducted later in November. Cull bucks, mature bucks not up to management standards, can sometimes be added at a much reduced price with the guide’s discretion.
This ranch owner only allows a very select number of hunters each year to hunt his ranch. Fantastic accommodations coupled with amazing meals along with a cold beer or a glass of fine wine at the end of the day just add to the experience.
They also offer superb inexpensive red stag hunting, along with trophy red sheep and Sitka deer. Texas non-resident license is $300. Hunters are met in Amarillo. TEXAS TROPHY WHITETAIL
1400 ACRE PRIVATE RANCH
Seven years ago, the ranch owner decided to put up a perimeter fence around his 1,400 acres and bring in 30 bred does and 20 bucks to start a trophy deer operation. Since then, it has blossomed into a premier hunting destination with approximately 150 does and 80 to 100 bucks. They have maintained a very high level of trophy bucks by only taking a handful per year.
Trophy hunts typically produce bucks grossing over 200 inches, with the best taken on the ranch scoring 283 and in 2023 top buck grossed 268. Most of these bucks will weigh over 200 pounds with dark antlers. They have 8 blinds set up over feeders and food plots. The property has thick brushy areas along with pine and oak trees.
3 day hunt is priced at $15,000 for any buck taken, no size limit. They start hunting the first 2 weeks of December through the first week of February. House accommodations, nothing fancy, and hunters normally do their own lunch and supper meals at a local town 20 minutes from the ranch. Hunters need a non-resident hunting license around $120. There is a 3 acre pond available for fishing with some 4 to 6 pound bass and plenty of crappies.
They also offer a few hunts for lower scoring bucks such as a buck gross scoring under 180 inches for only $7,500.
